Typical applications

For low-rate UART links that need more range.

Use Ling-TR6 where a complete system can operate with half-duplex communication and an external antenna matched to the target band.

Wireless UART

Exchange serial data between two UART TTL endpoints without a cable.

Data acquisition

Transfer low-rate sensor, meter and terminal data to a controller.

Industrial control

Support remote control, status feedback and field-device monitoring.

Mobile equipment

Use in robot and mobile-device links with moderate real-time requirements.

System operation

Two UART endpoints. One long-range wireless bridge.

Both modules must use matching Net ID, RF channel, bandwidth, spreading factor, coding rate and UART communication parameters.

Link behavior: The module automatically switches between transmit and receive. Use polling, request-response, or another application mechanism that prevents simultaneous bidirectional transmission.

Application boundaries

Validate the complete RF link.

Reference range is not a guaranteed installed-system range. Antenna choice, enclosure, power supply, site conditions and interference all matter.

Good starting fit

✓ Both endpoints use compatible UART TTL logic.

✓ The application supports half-duplex exchange.

✓ Both ends share matching RF and UART parameters.

✓ A 50 Ω antenna is matched to the target band.

Check carefully

! Confirm host IO levels against the module supply.

! Keep the antenna path clear of metal and large copper areas.

! Verify VCC stability during transmit current peaks.

! Test the final enclosure and installation environment.

* Range condition: Approx. 4 km is a reference line-of-sight value at 0.6 kbps in an open, interference-free environment. Verify the complete product in its intended installation.

Pin assignment

Seven connections

VCC
2.0–3.6 V positive supply; 3.3 V typical.
RXD
Module data input. Connect to MCU TXD; UART TTL level.
TXD
Module data output. Connect to MCU RXD; UART TTL level.
SET
Low: configuration mode. High or floating: communication mode.
CS
Low: active. High or floating: sleep.
GND
Common ground with the MCU or serial device.
ANT
External 50 Ω antenna interface; match it to the target band.

Operating modes

Three defined states

  1. Comm. ModeCS low; SET high or floating. Uses the configured communication baud rate.
  2. Config. ModeCS low; SET low. Fixed at 9600 bps, 8N1.
  3. Sleep ModeCS high or floating; wireless communication is unavailable.

Sample evaluation

Prove the link before design-in.

Separate serial, RF, antenna and enclosure effects so the team can diagnose the correct layer.

  1. 1

    Build the bench link

Use two modules and a UART test DEMO with the factory-default parameters.

  2. 2

    Confirm connections

Cross TXD/RXD, share GND, keep CS low, and keep SET high or floating.

  3. 3

    Match parameters

Confirm Net ID, RF channel, bandwidth, spreading factor, coding rate and UART baud rate at both ends.

  4. 4

    Validate the final product

Test the antenna, enclosure, installation environment and application protocol before production.

Can two modules communicate with factory defaults?

Yes. A two-module communication test can use the factory-default parameters when the circuit is connected correctly.

What must match at both ends?

Net ID, RF channel, bandwidth, spreading factor, coding rate and UART communication parameters must match.

Is Ling-TR6 full duplex?

No. The wireless link is half-duplex. Use polling or request-response to avoid simultaneous bidirectional transmission.

Which antenna should I use?

Use an external 50 Ω antenna matched to the target frequency band; TF45 is recommended in the released datasheet.
